How exciting to discover #DeLandWings while out for an afternoon lunch.
It’s those random moments that make life magical. Not worrying about the “Time” or having to be somewhere, or the traffic. Just the magic of finding a treasure.
The wings felt perfect on me. LIke.. they weighed nothing… but I could almost feel them magically majestic as if they were a part of me. No need to pretend… they were actually there! Simply caught on the back wall so that you could see them.
There is a sweet story behind the wings: Erica Group, an artist in DeLand, Florida decided—in a moment of inspiration—to etch a giant pair of wings onto the side of a local business. She got permission from the owner of the West Volusia Beacon Newspaper to chalk her heavenly piece of artwork on the building. Soon people were coming into the town as if looking for a treasure, asking store owners where the wings were. The word just keeps spreading.
The owner of the building quickly caught onto the trend and asked Group to make the wings more permanent—replacing chalk with paint.
There is more to the story… West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority’s mission is to develop and support marketing and advertising programs that bring increased tourism to West Volusia County, and they’ve commissioned to create more “wings”.
Erica’s wings have left a positive impression, not only on her canvases but also on the community in which they reside.
… and that my friends is how angels work with humans.
