If you’d never have to talk to anyone ever… there would be no conflict. Life would be as smooth as a flat line.
The family unit is a great starting point for lessons on communication. For some of us, being with our paternal families is not enough… we spread our wings and create our own little family units to continue the test.
The work place is the second place where we take our learned skills (or lack of) and practice some more. (some of us fail epically!)
I’ve observed through my own experience that with a little effort we can rise above our own self. The “want” to become a better human is the first decision. Here are a few things I focus on improving every day:
Confidence. I don’t think confidence can be bought or taught. It is built. Like a ‘Lego’ set. One experience after the other. I notice that when I hold a nice straight posture I have a strong happy feeling. I like to look people in the eye and I focus on what is ‘beautiful’ in the world this allows me to maintain a tone of enthusiasm when I speak with people.
Optimistic. I believe we all have victories. Even the toddler taking those first steps is victorious. Victory belongs to those that persevere and many victories are achieved after a trail of failed attempts. At the end of my day I review my day and focus on all that was good and beautiful.
Dress the part. I was almost going to suggest “dress for success”, yet I’ve come to believe that success is personal and may have different definitions depending on perspective. I’ve noticed that when I wear clothes that make me feel good I tend to be at my best. It should go with out saying, dress the part for what ever you are doing.
Personality. Each one of us has the unique blueprint of combination of emotions, behaviors and attitudes that mold our personality. I believe we can be a “Rock Star” through our personal desire to grow and polish ourselves.
Commitment: I believe that people should move with purpose. When you say… “I will see this through no matter what”, that is commitment. In every day interactions Love can drive us to move forward towards our commitments. Love for ourselves, our family, and the people around us. Committing to learn more about our business, our trade, and our community will help us improve in these areas.
… and the bonus: Positive Attitude. In general people are attracted to people that react positively, even through the most difficult of situations. In every day interactions I’ve noticed that when I share positive vibes, excitement and enthusiasm people seem to enjoy being around me. …and that’s a great feeling.
Share. Tell your story, share your dream. Life is a story, tell yours. Be passionate about what you know or do. Enthusiasm is infectious, spread it around.
Daisy Says: Every day interactions are the building blocks in the chapters of your life.
