Last weekend I was babying a cold and elected to put my phones offline which allowed me to get much-needed rest, plus enjoy a very quiet weekend. When Monday came around… it was like an explosion, a whole new story… phone lines were up and all kinds of woes and issues were being dumped.

It’s amazing what a wonderful life you can have when you are not infected with other people’s versions of events, which leads me into today’s musings: Mind Your Own Business. (MYOB)

It never ceases to amaze me at how often many people poke into the business of others and want to orchestrate other people’s lives.

Probably like most of you, I analyze things from the perspective of my life. I feel that I have enough in dealing with going (growing) through my own daily issues and if I stay focused on self-improvement and focusing on my task not only will I help myself but in that process become one less burden on society and help those around me.

Yet it must be society’s voyeuristic approach that keeps some people in other people’s business. There are some people that feel like they must impose their values and beliefs without taking into consideration the free will of other people. The birthright to their own happiness, the Divine beauty of their very own journey. Yet, they want those same liberties offered to them and will balk if anyone tells them how things must get done.

The one incident that came to mind was about one person complaining why a mother she knew would even allow her daughter body piercing… and because the mother did not stand up against the daughter now the friendship is being tested.

Don’t lose a friendship because of over meddling:

1. Try not to butt in.
2. Ask yourself: “Does this concern me?”
Unless what someone else is doing is going to somehow affect you in any way, then it does concern you.
3. If you figure out that the issues do not concern you, then simply walk away.
4. Keep in mind, most people just want to vent, be a friend, and listen.
No judgment – No comment – Just listen.

*1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
…and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Daisy Says: Till the soil in your backyard and you will have a wonderful garden.
