Just four letters… and so much depth. L – O – V – E
Love has so many variations, so many levels and all the while it remains true to itself; it does not change… it simply IS.
I was reading an article by anthropologist Helen Fisher which I found very interesting on the topic of Love and its various forms. In this article she discusses the brain in love where she goes on to expand on the areas of Lust, Romantic Love and Attachment. While she said that having all three in one relationship is not uncommon, equally not uncommon that while “Attached” with one mate, one could move in and out of being in “Romantic Love” with another person and yet “Lust” another.
What I found most fascinating was her statement that Romantic Love is a drive; a drive more powerful than the sex drive.
Romantic Love… has no boundaries. It’s the LOVE that stirs your soul knowing that ONE special person reciprocates your existence.
(wired for love Helen Fisher)
Many would agree that people Live for Love, Die for Love, write poetry on Love and because of Love, paint paintings inspired by Love, sing songs of Love and more.
Yet, what is that cue that allows us to know we are In Love. I mean, one minute you’re in a room with strangers and within seconds it can happen. A burst of intense attraction and the stranger now takes on a special meaning. The meaning we give them about how we feel about them.
Our being now becomes totally focused on that one person.
Now the question remains…. is it the person that drives us or is it Love that drives us to that one special person?
How grand is it to know that WE ARE wired to find LOVE?
What I would suggest to anyone searching for LOVE, keep looking because LOVE will hit you hard and no matter how long the wait ROMANTIC LOVE is worth waiting for. (and the search for it could be a wonderful discovery of self)
