Lazy days of summer are over and a new schedule awaits parents and children alike. I had to laugh when my little boy said he wanted one more week of ‘loitering’.
My little boy was so nervous and excited that he could not get himself to sleep. This is a huge day for most kids…new school for some, new teachers, new knowledge, new friends…its a HUGE deal!
Here are some tips on how to help your sunshines keep the nerves down:
– Sit down with them and review the ‘new’ schedule: sleep-time, mealtime, and wake-up schedule, make it fun and have them plan a calendar agenda.
– Talk with them as soon as they get back from school to discuss their day. Be a good listener and pay attention to their likes, dislikes, and what situations they experienced.
Before you know it they’ll be crying out for winter break!
