Sharing an impromptu field trip George and I did to Atwood Family Farm in Eustis. He discovered a sale they had on blueberry bushes, we hitched up our trailer and brought back 17 berry bushes.

George learned that blueberries grow best in soil that is high in organic matter and low in pH. We are blessed that one of our neighbors has a tree-cutting business and he’s dropped off a truck full of pine bark mulch.

Have to say it… it was hard back breaking work for George; while he was busy digging up the bushes I was having fun blueberry picking. Couldn’t resist popping a few in my mouth as I picked. The day was crispy and the sky was blue, just the way a “blue”berry would like it.
Well, George was so inspired with his blueberries that he decided to create a hedgerow along his fence… so we went back for more! Looking forward to picking blueberries in our garden next year, 2022 is going to be “berry” exciting!
