The holidays may have different meaning to all of us, and that meaning may change depending what we are experiencing in our life.
I’ve been so caught up that I need to find the Holiday Cheer. We are in week two of December and we just got our Christmas tree. I felt so not wanting to go out tree hunting. …was wondering if we could get away with just outdoor decorations, but our son was so excited about the tree hunting experience. It’s amazing how he can make it seem like there is snow outside …here in Florida! I can picture it now…our horse drawn sleigh pulling up to Home Depot. Wouldn’t that be a sight?
Anyways… I so dreaded this …that when we got to Home Depot (don’t mean to give them and advertising plug..but hey, that’s where I usually go)… would you believe this? They were out of trees! so, we drove around to Lowes (don’t mean to make them sound like left overs)…only to find their stock pathetic… they made Charlie Brown’s tree look good. We ended up at one of the road side vendors and we didn’t have much of a choice.
My son, of course..ran to the tallest tree. His justification…. our new home has vaulted ceilings! ..how can you deny a little boy face standing by a tall tree…grinning from ear to ear? I couldn’t do it, I decide I’d look at scraps for a wreath…. so I sent in re-enforcement…’the Dad’. That went over well – NOT -as I saw them haul 10′ ft tree into the van.
I must say, the aroma of fresh pine in the home is so comforting and definitely gets us in the Holiday Cheer.
