When I was little one of the things that made Sunday special was the Sunday newspaper. I recall sitting with my dad looking through the paper… I of course would read the funnies, and look quite as serious as my dad.
There was this special cartoon that I so loved…it was called very appropriately: Love is…
I looked forward each weekend to find out what else “Love is” and to see the different illustrations showing the two cute little characters explaining that version of love.
The story behind the cartoon:
Kim Casali (9 September 1941-15 June 1997) was a New Zealand cartoonist who created the syndicated cartoon feature Love is…, originally as love notes to her future husband, in the late 1960s.
Casali took a job as a receptionist for a design company, “and made up little booklets of her winsome cartoons, which she sold for a dollar apiece. Word soon spread and the demand for Love is… escalated. The Los Angeles Times, picked them up for publication and published the first of the series on 5 January 1970,
Most important we are in a journey of remembering we are Love, and Love just IS.
