Sometimes we think we need to get on a plane to experience a “get-a-way”… but I believe it’s not about that at all. It is mostly about what we bring to the moment that defines the adventure.
Recently with two of my Earth Angels, we decided we needed to do an ‘outing’. Usually, we hang out and chat up maybe over a glass of wine. This time we decided to go out and the adventure was pretty much left on me.
I suppose… having a great adventure starts with being blessed with a picture-perfect sky. The angels gave us the best sky ever!
Since it was for an afternoon outing… we knew there was some dining aspect involved so I suggested Santorini in Downtown DeLand – known for their delicious gyros. Well, figuring we were heading into DeLand, I suggested we go and discover two of the Wings of the West (murials painted by Erica Group).
As the saying goes, A picture is worth a thousand words:
I’ve learned when you go into the moment with no expectations but the mere expectations of “Being” – then everything becomes an adventure!
It’s interesting how when you allow yourself to go with the flow and allow yourself to shelf your worries at home and be willing to experience the moment – the mind DOES relax and the “Being” can savor the simple JOY of Being.
It’s simple moments that becomesthe greatest treasures and leave a laughter in our hearts – and magically restores our zest for life.
With the wind beneath our wings – we headed into downtown DeLand and enjoyed a very very delicious gyro at Santorini’s; the girls intoduced me to something new – the lemon potatoes and I also offered they try the breaded zuchinni with garlic potato dip – yummy!
With our bellies feeling happy… it was time I showed them where to find the other DeLands’ -Wings of the West ‘angel wing’. …and these two pictures are just darling!
After much giggling… heading back out of the alley we came across DeLand’s Craft Brewery: Persimmon Hollow Brewing. I can’t recall the names of the two craft beers we tried, one was ale the other had a twist of orange; we realized hmm as good as they were – we might stick with wine. But hey! the bathroom sink was cool!
As we walked out of the brewery and stepped out into the afternoon space, the shift of the day was palpable. The sky was slowly changing color and the feel of the air had a different vibe. A sign the day was changing guards to welcome the evening.
Heading back into town, I remembered I had asked Ty Hargrove if I could come by and borrow a campaign sign that I had left on his yard back in 2017. Well, it was a wonderful thing I did!
Ty happens to have a labyrinth in his backyard which is featured in the book: Circle the Center, Labyrinths of Florida
I asked if we could walk the labyrinth and wow, it was magical, peaceful and good for the soul. I remember slowly walking the path of the labyrinth and slowly the world turned off and I turned – In. Truly magical. When I stepped out of the labyrinth, I felt like I had just returned from a spa.
Truly every moment of our life is: about what we bring to the moment that defines the adventure.
