I strongly believe that setting the stage for the course of the New Year is really important.
For me… January 1 is very special. It’s not about running head on into our resolutions, but more so about celebrating Life. It’s about getting into that right mindset and heart-zone.
One of the things we normally like to do is spend this day connecting with Nature. For us, Nature is an extension of our outward connection and ‘communion’ with God… Source… the great Universe Creator.
This January 1 we chose New Smyrna Beach-Florida as our kick-off destination.
New Smyrna Beach is a mix of old Florida style – where cars drive on the beach, cyclists, tourists and of course occasional residents like us, who actually remember that if we continue driving East, West or South we’ll end up on some Florida beach.
It was an odd New Year’s Eve without our son… now a young adult – we knew it was a matter of time before we’d end up celebrating without him. So – for the first time in our time together George and I have realized how much of our life revolved around our son, and now we are re-discovering ourselves and each other.
How quickly 365 days go by. Before you know it 5 years, then 10, 25 and 50. You stop taking pictures of yourself cause you been taking pictures of your family and then one day the camera is turned back on you and you don’t recognize yourself. You start standing in the background trying to cover yourself hoping no one would really notice you… you almost want to be in the picture, and you don’t. The problem is… one day you really won’t be there, you will have faded into nothingness.
… and so it is a realization of Love. Of Life. Of Sharing that beckons us to continue on.
It is embracing the Creator and the Tapestry. It is in stopping and seeing the beauty that surrounds us amidst the mundane and the monotony… that we discover a deeper meaning of our very own existence.
… and as the clock ticks on towards minus 365 days, I stand in the Here and Now appreciating the journey.
So I say to you my dear heart… get in front of the camera and LIVE.
May you find Peace and Love on your journey.
