Someone once said to me that success isn’t everything and I think I know what they really meant. I believe they really meant that money wasn’t everything and I certainly agree with that! I also believe that success is all about perception and reference. I believe that each and everyone of us has experienced success at something.
So it would be safe to say that we all have been successful!
There are so many facets and levels to success, like – first you need to survive to succeed. Somehow we need to make it through what ever storm of life we are facing. We must take the seasons and learn how to use them with the seed, the soil and the rain of opportunity to learn how to sustain ourselves and our family.
Then… we need to succeed in flourishing in every part of our life.
Good question to ask mature people (key word – “mature”): “If you could do better would you?”
I think most people would answer the question in the positive. If you could improve your health wouldn’t you do that? If you can learn more wouldn’t you do that? If you could earn more and share more, wouldn’t you do that? If you could improve your relationships and spirituality wouldn’t you do that?
I believe that is what success is about. It is not just a destination for a select few, I believe that it is a journey that is open to anyone and everyone that has the courage to “BE” themselves.
Improving in every area of your life to see if at the end of the day, week, month and year – LIFE, and say: ‘I have made excellent progress for myself, for my family, for my business, for my health etc’. I think that kind of success everybody recognizes as legitimate and something we could all strive for.
It is in the striving to be a little bit better today than yesterday… in our speech, our actions, our health and everything we can possibly think of.
So yes, in my opinion success is everything – it is our personal journey.
We must get good at one of two things: sowing in the Spring or begging in the Fall.
God has the tough end of the deal. What if instead of planting the seed you had to make the tree? That would keep you up late at night, trying to figure that one out!
Plant. Don’t chant. The soil says, “Don’t bring me your need, bring me your seed.” (Jim Rohn)
