Today, I Miss Her

Misty

It’s been a couple years now, but every now and then I get this hollow feeling in my chest and thoughts of my little Misty come rushing back.

It’s amazing how a little creature can fill up so much space and bring peaceful joy, Misty.

Misty came into our lives on a warm, Autumn Florida night. My neighbor Donna came knocking on my door telling she kept hearing a little pitched squeaking sound coming from her yard. I quickly grabbed my flash light and went out with her… searching for the sound – it would come…and then it would stop. Finally by the base of the Areca palm trees we saw this little fur ball no bigger than a little mouse.

Little gray fury body, could have been only weeks old. Seemed like it had strayed from its mom. She was trembling in her little body. Donna looked at me and told me that she would keep her but ‘Savior’ (her tomcat would get jealous). I ran home to George and noticed his top pocket in his pullover…and immediately popped the little trembling kitty in there. She stuck her little head out… and I knew he fell in love with her. (I know, I know… you might say I was a bit cunning there).

I drove off to the pet store to get some essentials… you know, the little dish plate, and the little poofy bed, and the scratching post, and the tower so she can jump all over, and the little toys filled with catnip and the little brush and shampoo, and the little pink bows…ugh. I just had a baby kitty, what can I say!! hehehe

I watched her grow… and she was Sexy, (in that cat like way), she was adorable, she was fun, she was caring and thoughtful (on school days she would jump on Geordans’ bed and give him the stare down until he’d awaken), I love those little eating sounds she made…eating her food so delicately and the little lapping of her water, also – she was a hard worker….always around when chores were getting done (supervising – yes, its’ a hard job!), …. she was a beautiful soul.

Daisy Says: I love you Misty.
