Traditions

I woke up a bit melancholy today as I thought of fond childhood memories.

One of the things I use to love about our small town in Haverstraw New York was the ringing of church bells at noon for the Angelus prayer.

It is sad to see many traditions being pushed away, whether it be the ringing of church bells or pledging allegiance to our country in school. I love coming home after a long road trip and see ‘Old Glory’ lightly blowing in the wind as I walk up to my door.

We should cherish the traditions that are passed on to us whether they be from our country, culture, family or religion they allow us to tell a story to those that come after us.

Traditions take on a different meaning when one becomes a parent; as a parent one is given the torch to carry, to fight for those cherished traditions that made our childhood magical and give more meaning to the things we do.

Daisy Says: Carry your torch and pass it on.
