There are too many people who expect success and happiness for a small price or nothing at all.
There are very few people out there with ‘True Grit’. Most people seem to lack a deep-down desire to achieve a worthwhile life by their own efforts, through the development and use of their own talents and abilities. They go from Monday through Friday in what I would classify ” automated mode “, they make excuses about their own mediocrity by blaming others or the circumstances around.
George Bernard Shaw, the playwright, puts it this way: “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.”
Others whine: “If only I liked my work, then I would be successful!” Well, that is lame.
Work is work!
Whatever the vocation there isn’t one that is entirely free of at least a few distasteful tasks. Taking the bad with the good – that is part of living a realistic and rewarding life. This turns the work that seemed so tedious and uninspiring into one that is endurable, and surprisingly rewarding.
Decide today…to START where you are – even if today you don’t think much of your job, perhaps you feel it’s boring and does not bring out your best talents and skills. I dare you to take on the challenge to start where you are, it is the first step in the pursuit of a successful and happy life.
Work that is geared to your inner vocation is easier and more satisfying, there is no doubt about that. But for now, if that is not the case….know that you can succeed, at least for a while, in your present work, no matter how boring and unpleasant your work may be, if you resolve to make up your mind to do it.
Grab a firm hold of yourself, buckle down to hard work, and use every one of your God-given talents to the fullest, don’t lay them to waste because you are waiting for that grand position…begin today practicing with the wonderful person you will become.
Daisy Says: Tomorrow is always a brighter day… to those who are willing to do their very best TODAY and persevere under the most trying circumstances.
